It’s no secret that there is little love lost between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, who have chosen to tackle royal life with completely opposing approaches, but now the true cause of their deep rift has been revealed.

An extensive new profile piece on the Duchess of Cambridge in the UK’s Tatler magazine has sought to investigate the root of the famous feud between the two women, and has traced back their long standing disagreement to Meghan Markle’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
Princess Charlotte served as a bridesmaid at her uncle’s wedding, but a rumoured quarrel between Meghan and Kate over the toddler’s outfit caused considerable tension.
A friend of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge claimed to the British publication that an “incident” at the wedding rehearsal is what triggered the royal rift.
“It was a hot day and apparently there was a row over whether the bridesmaids should wear tights or not. Kate, following protocol, felt that they should. Meghan didn’t want them to,” the source alleged.
Photos from the day clearly show Charlotte is not wearing tights – so it appears Meghan won that argument.
The publication also alleges Meghan was quite firm with some Kensington Palace stuff – a mistake Kate reprimanded her for.
What’s more, the article claims Kate and Willam, who have been hard at work stepping up as senior members of the royal family ever since Harry and Meghan’s “Megxit” split in March, are feeling burnt out by their increased workloads.
The couple are said to be unhappy that they have been forced to pick up the slack left by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
A friend of the Cambridges has also allegedly slammed Meghan and Harry for being “selfish”.
“William and Catherine really wanted to be hands-on parents and the Sussexes have effectively thrown their three children under a bus. There goes their morning school runs as the responsibilities on them now are enormous,” the source claimed.
And it seems there are still old wounds between the respective couples that have never been healed. Harry and William’s famous royal rift first emerged after Wills cautioned Harry against his fast-moving relationship with the former Suits actress, an intervention that did not go down well with Harry.
A close confidant reportedly claimed to the publication that Wills and Kate were very “circumspect” about Meghan, which apparently hurt and incensed Harry.
The insider alleged that Kate even tried to mend William and Harry’s fractured relationship, but in the end her loyalty was always going to be with her husband.
“I don’t think that [Kate] ever pulled Meghan under her wing and said, ‘I’ll show you the ropes,’” the source claimed.
