Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has ruffled feathers behind Palace walls once again, after snubbing Queen Elizabeth’s most trusted ahead of the birth of her first child.
Princess Diana trusted them, as did the Duchess of Cambridge, but 37-year-old Meghan won’t allow the Royal Household’s gynaecologists Alan Farthing and Guy Thorpe-Beeston to oversee her and Harry’s first born in the delivery room.
In fact, the American actress-turned-Duchess has employee an all-female cast.
Is this in retaliation to the Queen banning Megs from wearing jewels from the Royal Collection?
“Meghan said she doesn’t want the men in suits,” a Palace insider told Daily Mail. “She was adamant that she wanted her own people. It did leave a few of us a little baffled.”
Another source explained, “It is slightly surprising. These people [the Queen’s doctors] are the best of the best and when it comes down to it, their role would actually be very limited in the birth itself, assuming all goes to plan.”
However, a source close to the mother-to-be insisted it was a “personal” decision, one that should be made by the expectant parents.
“Above all, this is her birth, her baby, and she must do whatever feels right for her. How could anyone judge her for that?”
This latest development comes after the Duchess opted not to give birth in London’s Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital, like many royals before her.
Instead, the Sussex’s will welcome their little arrival at a maternity ward close to their Frogmore Cottage home in Windsor.
