Facebook groups have been inundated with amazing before and afters, showing how some pieces of furniture destined for the tip have been given a new lease of life.

She writes: ‘Brought the bissel carpet cleaner with the spot cleaner. Found these couches for free on fb going to landfill if not collect. Thought I’d put my new toy to the test. Has done amazing... still isn’t perfect needs acouple more cleans but coming up good ...’
