Iconic Australian spread Vegemite can be polarising at the best of times. But even the most devoted Vegemite fans have been balking at the latest sweet-savoury creation: the Vegemite icy pole.
Twitter went into meltdown on Wednesday when Vegemite posted this little teaser on their feed:

Hey, if it’s good enough for Heston Blumenthal, it’s good enough for us.
The Vegemite icy pole is the brainchild of Trish McKenzie, a food design manager at Vegemite’s parent company, Bega Cheese, and it remains to be seen whether they’ll be stocked in supermarkets. But keen cooks can find the recipe for Trish’s Vegemite icy poles on the Vegemite website, along with surprising suggestions for Vegemite popcorn, Vegemite-slathered pizzas, Vietnamese meatball subs, and Mexican chilli bean beef.
It’s not the first time Vegemite has dipped its toes into sweet territory. Remember Cadbury’s block of caramel and Vegemite chocolate, which had people asking if it was awesome or evil? And then there was the launch of Vegemite Blend 17 earlier in the year, which promised a richer, bolder flavour, with a bold price tag to match.
Bolder. Richer. Our NEW Blend 17 has landed and is available for a limited time only! Grab it while you can and #StartHappy #Blend17 pic.twitter.com/u3z7NG7uQn
