‘Looks like aphids - they can kill your plants,’ said one. Said another: ‘Looks like aphids, you need to kill them before they kill your plants.’
Gardening expert Dizey Barber tells New Idea Food: ‘You don’t want aphids near your plants at all. They’re suckers! They suck all the nutrients out of your plants and your plants will die quite quickly. You need to remove the aphids if you want to keep your Discovery Garden plants alive.’
Members suggested killing them ‘by wiping or spraying the leaves of the plant with a mild solution of water and a few drops of dish soap. Soapy water should be reapplied every 2-3 days for 2 weeks.’
Said another member: ‘Just wipe off and squish them.’
As you can see from Melissa’s pics, the bugs can be easy to miss - so make sure you give your baby Discovery Garden plants a good looking over to make sure they’re free of aphids. Good luck!
