While the factory in question is the world’s largest producer of Nutella, the company has 22 other production sites around the world - with the company producing 365 million kilos across 160 countries every year.
Last year the company invested $70 million into the local hazelnut industry, planting new hazelnut trees in the NSW Riverina Plains. Ferrero hopes that the move reduce the amount of hazelnuts they import in for production at their Lithgow, NSW, factory.
