250 g unsalted butter, chopped, softened
3 cups (500 g) icing sugar mixture, sifted
2 tbsp milk
To make chocolate buttercream icing
¼ cup baking cocoa powder
¼ cup melted dark chocolate melts
- Put butter in the bowl of an electric mixer and beat on medium, using paddle attachment, until pale and fluffy.
- Add ½ the icing sugar and beat on low until combined.
Add milk and remaining sugar, then beat on low until combined. Increase speed to high and beat until pale and fluffy.
- Mix baking cocoa with the milk to form a smooth paste. Add to butter mixture in Step 3 with melted dark chocolate melts and remaining icing sugar.
