2 cups caster sugar
2 cups self-raising flour
½ tsp bicarb soda, mixed into 1 cup cold water
185 g butter, melted
⅓ cup cocoa powder
2 tbsp hot water
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 cups icing sugar mixture
250 g butter, melted
2 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tsp milk
- Preheat oven to 150°C. Grease and line a 25cm cake tin. Throw all cake mix ingredients into your mixing bowl… no sifting, no fussing, just throw those guys in there.
- Turn the mixer onto high and mix for 2 minutes until all ingredients are combined.
- Pour mixture into the tin and bake for 45-55 minutes until cooked through (a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake should come out clean).
- Throw all the icing ingredients into the mixer and give a good mix for about 1 1/2 minutes. If it’s too thick, just keep adding in extra splashes of milk.
