Wrote one Twitter user: ‘Well, now I just have to know: Who burnt the back of the stove? Was it you? What happened? If you’re going to be my next Prime Minister (which you are), I can’t have someone who puts things on the back burner.’
Said another: ‘LOL, who set fire to the stove.’
Added one more: ‘A fire blanket and extinguisher in the kitchen are a great idea.’
True! This of course isn’t the first time that Mr Shorten has found himself in hot water thanks to a food-related social media post gone wrong. During the 2016 Federal Election, he was mocked after being photographed eating a sausage sizzle through the middle of the sanga - as opposed to starting at either end.
Said one critic: 'If Bill Shorten loses this election how much will it be because he ate a sausage sandwich sideways.'
But sausage scandals and burnt stoves aside, we have another very important question to ask about Mr Shorten's latest pic: please tell us he’s not putting those snow peas on the Vegemite sandwiches? Because THAT we cannot handle!
