2 tsp white vinegar
pinch of salt
- Half-fill a medium saucepan with water and bring to the boil. Add 2 tsps white vinegar and a pinch of salt, and reduce to a gentle simmer.
- Break an egg into a teacup or small bowl. Stir the water to create a whirlpool and gently slide the egg into the centre of the whirlpool.
- Cook for 3 minutes (water should be barely simmering). Do not stir the water while the egg is cooking. Use a slotted spoon to lift the egg from the pan. Drain on kitchen paper and serve immediately.
