A police department has been inundated with responses after asking for residents to volunteer to get drunk - using free alcohol.
The Kutztown Police Department in Pennsylvania took to Facebook with the bizarre call-out, saying they needed a bunch of ordinary people to get plastered so they could practise DUI testing.
‘Alcohol will be provided; however, you will not receive compensation for your time,’ the police department’s post stated.
The advertisement added that participants needed to be in “good health”, have a clean criminal history and aged between 25-40 years old with no history of drug or alcohol abuse. They also added that they must be ‘be willing to drink hard liquor to the point of inebriation’, have a responsible person look after them after the testing was completed and sign a waiver.
Not surprisingly - hello, free alcohol! - the police station’s hotlinewas immediately inundated with thousands of responses.
One man quipped that he’s been ‘waiting for this day’ his whole life, and that his ‘destiny had arrived’. Another woman joked ‘Can I bring my Pringles can?’, referring to the Texas woman who was caught drinking wine out of a Pringles can last week.

Said another: ‘I have been looking to volunteer this year and help the community! Count me in!’
Wrote one more: ‘Is there a spectator area?’
It wasn’t long before the Kutztown Borough Police Department advised that the positions had been filled, after ‘half the state’ contacted them.
‘THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR INTEREST IN HELPING US OUT! WE HAVE HAD AN OVERWHELMING RESPONSE FOR THIS AND AT THIS POINT WE HAVE ENOUGH VOLUNTEERS FOR THIS TRAINING!’
