Since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced their engagement in November last year, Prince Charles has spent a reported $1 million just on the former Suits star’s designer wardrobe.
Unlike thrifty Kate Middleton, the newly minted Duchess of Sussex has ‘expensive taste’ and it’s ‘breaking the bank’, Life & Style reports.
The US publication notes that in June alone, Meghan stepped out in an $18,000 Givenchy cape dress for her first solo engagement with Queen Elizabeth II, purchased a $4,000 Carolina Herrera off-the-shoulder top and skirt for the Trooping The Colour ceremony, and arrived in a $6,000 Oscar de la Renta printed maxi dress for Princess Diana’s niece’s wedding.
On top of June’s exuberant costs, Meghan and Harry have spent a whopping $54,442 AUD on their wardrobe for their two-day Ireland tour this week.
Considering Prince Charles is the one ‘picking up the tab,’ Life & Style’s source reveals: ‘He’s extremely unhappy about the fortune he’s having to spend on Meghan’s upkeep.
‘He feels like a walking ATM machine and is so annoyed that he’s planning to sit her and Harry both down for a stern talking to.’
