Prince Frederik leaves Winter Olympics to be at sick father’s bedside

As his condition ‘seriously worsens’

Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik has rushed home from the Winter Olympics in South Korea to be with his sick father, Prince Henrik.

The 83-year-old’s condition has “seriously worsened”, after he was hospitalised Jan. 28 for a lung infection. Doctors later found a benign tumor in his left lung.

“I know my brother is not well. It seems to be a question of weeks,” Prince Henrik’s brother, Etienne de Monpezat, said to newspaper BT.

Crown Princess Mary visited the French-born husband of Queen Margrethe in hospital in Copenhagen on Friday with two of her children.
