The Duchess of York opened up about the experience in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar’s Nancy Jo Sales in 2011, and gave an insight into her relationship with her eldest daughter.

Ms Sales wrote: “When she had her photograph taken earlier in the day, she says, she became nervous at all the attention.”

Fergie told the author: ”I got rather shy and modest and feeling a bit round like a teapot.

“I felt very insecure, actually.

“I said, ‘Oh, nothing’s gonna fit.’

“I got Beatrice on the line, and I said, ‘Beatrice, look, Mum’s having a freak-out.’

“And so she spoke to the stylist and said, ‘Look, it’s okay, this is how you deal with Mum.’

“And she calmed everything down.”

Beatrice reportedly instructed the stylist to find a more structured look for her mum, “to accentuate her trim waist”.

Fergie spoke out recently about her daughter Princess Beatrice’s recent engagement to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Speaking on the red carpet at the British Film Institute Luminous Gala, Sarah added of her daughter: “It’s just extraordinary, she’s just such a beauty and to see her eyes shining…”

When asked about Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who is known as Edo, she added: “I’ve known him all my life. His brother is my godson.

“I’m so proud, and I’ve known Edo since he was four, and he’s got a lovely mum.

“It’s really, really good news.”

Fergie – who shares two daughters with Prince Andrew – added she was proud of both her daughters, following Princess Eugenie‘s wedding last year at Windsor Castle to Jack Brooksbank.

She said: “I’m really proud of them both.”

“And for mums out there, oh my God. I’ve never understood what it is to have tears of joy because I looked at mothers at weddings, I’m going ‘yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s good news’.

“No, you really feel it because they’re your babies.”
