Why the Queen REALLY had a problem with Diana

You won’t believe it

Princess Diana certainly changed the way royal mothers brought up their children.

In fact, she was known for playing a very hands-on role in Prince William and Prince Harry’s upbringing, preferring not to rely on staff to raise her boys.

But, her parenting approach was at odds with traditional royal upbringing and biographer Andrew Morton has claimed that this didn’t sit well with The Queen.

“Diana’s hands-on mothering, given her position and workload, was in sharp relief to the way her husband, Prince Charles, had been raised by a succession of nannies.

“’He’s not hidden upstairs with the governess’ was her approach to William’s upbringing,” Andrew wrote in his novel “William and Catherine.”

“This yawning generational gold was exposed early on when William’s nanny was absent during a stay at Balmoral, the Queen’s Highland retreat in Aberdeenshire.”

It was during this vacation that Andrew claims The Queen commented on her disbelief of Diana’s refusal to rely upon housemaids.

“Diana took over the mothering herself, causing the Queen to exclaim, ‘I don’t understand why Diana has to do this. There are millions of housemaids around.’”

Andrew further claims that Diana’s determination to raise William and Harry as normal as possible was “frowned upon.”

But, the royal continued to raise her boys in her own way.
