If you’ve ever gone out for dessert as a vegan (or with one) it quickly becomes apparent that for plant-based foodies, finding a decent treat can be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Thankfully, the Aussie chocolateria San Churro has your back – this week launching a menu packed full of delicious dessert and drinks that even vegans can sink their teeth into.
While the recipe for churros themselves has always been free of animal-based ingredients, and dark chocolate contains no dairy, San Churro were aware that there was a lot more they could do to satisfy the sweet tooths of their vegan customers.
Headlining the new dessert offerings is The Happy Vegan dessert bowl. In a bowl made from a coiled churro, vegan salted caramel & honeycomb gelato is drizzled in dark chocolate and topped with smashed Oreos and fresh strawberries.
Also among the new desserts are the cookie butter filled churros, featuring churros that have been piped with vegan caramel-spiced cookie filling. The cookie butter filling is also available as a dip cup alongside dark chocolate for regular churros.
Vegan beverages have also been added to the menu. The choc caramel craving shake and Go Troppo smoothie are both completely vegan-friendly. And, as before, all of San Churro’s hot chocolates and coffees are available with Bonsoy or almond milk.
‘At San Churro, our brand motto is mi casa su casa,’ says San Churro’s CEO, Giro Maurici.
‘We want all people to feel welcome in our stores, and to leave with a fun, vibrant and memorable experience. Ultimately, our new menu delivers on this, offering a greater range of choice for all our customers — vegans and non-vegans alike.’
These delicious creations are added to San Churro’s already not-too-shabby line-up of vegan-friendly menu items, bringing the grand total up to 23.
Vegan diners should be aware that while the churros contain no animal ingredients, they are cooked in vegetable oil that may also been used to cook products containing egg.
