Shopper’s shock after discovering bizarre orange sludge in her Woolworths milk - after her family had drunk most of it
‘My husband and kids have been drinking this milk all week’
A shopper has taken to Facebook to share her shock after discovering large mystery orange-coloured pieces in the bottom of her three-litre milk, purchased from Woolworths.
Sharing an image of the bizarre sludge-like substance - which has the same appearance as peach slices - to Woolworths’ Facebook page, shopper Siobhan voiced her concern that she and her family had already consumed most of the milk before making the disturbing discovery.
Adding to her concern, she pointed out that she and her family had been unwell - but said she wasn’t sure if their illness was related to the milk.
She wrote: ‘Hi Woolworths - can you please tell me what this stuff that was found in my 3 litre Woolworths brand full cream milk is? We’ve only just discovered it and there is a lot more in the bottom of the milk carton.
‘My husband and kids have been drinking this milk all week and are sick (may be unrelated) - there is only about 200ml left in the carton. I would love to know what this is and if it poses a problem.’
The shopper said she and her family had already consumed most of the milk before making the shocking discovery.
The shopper found this in the bottom of her Woolies milk.
New Idea Food contacted Woolworths for an explanation as to what the orange substance was. While the spokesperson couldn’t shed light on the mystery at this stage, they did say they were investigating the shopper’s claims with their dairy supplier.
‘At Woolworths we take food safety and quality very seriously,’ the spokesperson said.
‘We’re currently in contact with the customer and looking into the matter in line with established procedures.
‘We’re unaware of any other customer reports of a similar nature regarding our milk at this time.’
We’ll keep you posted as more information comes to light.
