It’s one of the most popular items on the McDonald’s menu for money-conscious Aussies - the $1 Hamburger.
But it seems the dollar snack has fallen victim to a dose of hefty inflation - with many customers reporting that the price has gone up to $1.50.
News of the 50 per cent price hike has swept across social media, with many budget-loving Macca’s customers not happy!
‘I’ve been to three different Macca’s in the last two days in two different states because we’re travelling, and the $1 hamburgers are up to $1.50,’ said one. ‘That’s a 50% increase. Not happy at all. The guy at the drive-thru window told me it was across all Macca's stores.’
Said another: ‘Has anyone else noticed that the $1 hamburgers at Macca’s have gone up to $1.50? They snuck that one in.’
Added a third: ‘The $1 used to be my number one cheap family meal, not happy it’s gone up. 50 cents might not be a lot for some, but I’ve got eight kids - it adds up.’
