It’s the end of the financial year, and we’re being bombarded with sales left, right and centre.
But while there are huge bargains and markdown events happening all over the country, there’s one new sales trend that we’re noticing more and more often.
The ‘Fill-A-Bag’ for $10 or $20 concept has hit quite a few stores across the country, with shoppers being invited to cram as many goods as they can into a single bag for a set price.
Today, such a sale is happening at Foote’s Pharmacy in Queensland - and customers have been lining up all day for the opportunity to fill a bag of goodies for just $19.95.
Popular ladies store Ally Fashion has built up a cult following for their fill-a-bag for $10 promotions - and other fashion stores have followed suit. Other shoppers have also reminisced on social media about the old days when Woolworths even offered ‘bargain bags’ promotions, where shoppers could fill a bag of fruit and veggies for $2.
Speaking of the Foote’s Pharmacy Fill-A-Bag sale in Ipswich, Queensland, one customer took to the Markdown Addicts Australia Facebook page to show a photo, at top of page, of the epic line-up outside the store.
‘At Foote’s chemist today $19.95 fill a bag,’ Fleabe wrote. ‘I walked out with two bags full and going back later when new stock out again.
‘I’ve worked out so far each bag would have been over $100 worth of stuff I have just in a bag lol. And OMG I’m filling them to max!’
Fellow shopper Nicole showed off a photo of her epic haul, above, revealing she filled three bags and spent just $60. Said another customer: ‘I saved $50!’ Added a third: ‘I’ve saved so much!’
