Said one: ‘Just a little too late at Aldi. As Yosemite Sam would say “Dagnabbit, I missed out”. Added another: ‘I queued up but I still missed out, I’m gutted.’
Said a third: ‘Went to four different Aldi's by 10am. A manager told me they sold out in seconds.’ Added one more: ‘Went to ALDI and they had sold out of both.😭😭😭😭😭’
But not everyone was unlucky, which many voicing their excitement at scoring one of the coveted items! ‘I too got one of each and am so dang excited!’ said one. Added another: ‘I got the last 4 one from our local Aldi. Cant wait to use it!!!’
But with many either celebrating or commiserating over the Aldi Pie Maker release, the big question remains - how does it compare to the Kmart version?
Fans who have used both have been revealing their thoughts on social media tonight - and there are some very clear opinions.
One thing that the Aldi four-pie version offers that the Kmart one doesn’t, they say, is bigger pies.
Says one fan: ‘The Aldi pies are definitely deeper and therefore bigger than the Kmart ones. I’m thinking I might use the Aldi one for savoury dinner pies and the Kmart ones for sweet pies?’
Said another: ‘I prefer the Aldi pies because they’re bigger, means I won’t have to make as many pies for my boys.’
But others claimed they still preferred the Kmart Pie Maker. ‘I prefer smaller pies - better for my thighs!’ Added another: ‘ My kids love pies, but don’t eat much because they’re still little so the Kmart version suits me better.’
As for the family pie maker reviews, they weren’t quite as glowing. While some were disappointed that the traditional sheets of supermarket puff pastry don’t fit in the family-sized gadget, others thought it just didn’t work as well. ‘I’m going to return it and use my oven instead - works heaps better.’
As for how YOU can get your hands on a four-pie Aldi Pie Maker, savvy shoppers say there could be still some hiding in stores - but you need to get in quick.
‘Sometimes people take them back the next day or have a change of heart,’ said one shopper. ‘Always go back the day after the Special Buy starts and have a scout around.’
