At New Idea Food, we love a good cake hack. After all, not everyone has hours set aside to whip up a baking masterpiece - especially with Christmas around the corner.
And that’s why we’re completely obsessed with this Christmas wreath creation, the work of a clever girl called Steph over at the awesome Woolies/Coles Mudcake Hacks Facebook group.
Making the masterpiece for her work colleagues to enjoy, Steph used only supermarket products to make it. And the best part? It only took 8 MINUTES.
But it’s the surprise ingredient in this wreath that we love the most. While we’ve seen plenty of cupcake pull-apart cakes all over the Internet, Steph came up with another idea to create the same effect - pre-made mini sweet jam rolls.
‘Long time follower, first (and definitely not last) time hacker,’ Steph writes to her fellow Woolies/Coles Mudcake Hacks Facebook group followers.‘Thanks to all your beautiful inspiration ladies. I found myself throwing this Christmas wreath together. I used 3-4 packs of coles sweet rolls and 2 tups of Betty Crocker icing ... it took me a whole 8 minutes today. Hopefully all the ladies at work love.’
She adds: ‘I simply cut all the scrolls in half and laid them out and mixed some premade icing with green colouring and covered the top and made some small christmas flowers out of M&Ms.’
Step one: Steph Coles sweet rolls in half and placed them in a wreath pattern.

Step 2: She then used two tubs of Betty Crocker icing ...

Step 3: ... and mixed it with green food colouring.

Step 4: Then covered the sweet rolls with icing and added M&Ms for holly decorations!

And it only took 8 minutes?! You’ve gotta love that! Not surprisingly, Steph’s creation got the thumbs up from her Woolies/Coles Mudcake Hacks Facebook group friends.
‘Great idea for end of year kids parties,’ said one. Added another: ‘This is an amazing idea. I suck at making cupcakes and wanted to do a pull apart for Christmas dessert.’
Wrote one more: ‘This is awesome!’
We couldn’t agree more - love it Steph! For more inspiration, make sure you head over to the Woolies/Coles Mudcake Hacks group here on Facebook!
