Who doesn’t love a supermarket markdown? Seeing all those veggies, meats and bakery items slashed to 50, 70 or even 90 per cent off - just because they’re getting a little close to their best before date!
But while many savvy shoppers have been known to hit up Woolworths and Coles at all times of the day looking for bargains, it’s often been a bit of lottery as to whether you’ll hit the markdown jackpot or walk away empty-handed.

Well now one Woolworths cashier may have taken the guesswork out of your supermarket bargain hunting, telling one shopper her top times to score serious savings at Woolies.
Aussie shopper Jazmin revealed the secret tips to the always fabulous Markdown Addicts Australia Facebook group, after sharing her massive bargain haul. Posting photos of a huge stash of bakery items and fresh meat, Jazmin tells how the Woolworths cashier told her that noon and closing time were the best times to bag a bargain.
Says Jazmin: ‘Got all this at noon yesterday from Woolies! $182 worth for $73 couldn’t believe my luck. The checkout chick told me noon is best at woolies with big bakeries because they do 3 bakes a day and need to make room at that time, also if you go close to closing time they usually sell it at 50c a pack to get it gone, I've never seen that though.’
Adds Jazmin: ‘I shared the bakery stuff with school mums for our kids lunches ’

... and these meat savings after shopping at Woolies at noon!
Said one follower: ‘I had $2 taken off mine a while back only because I asked. Added another: ‘I got two BBQ chickens for $1.80 each tonight!’
Revealed a third: ‘I got a roast half price today cause it was cooked at 1.35pm and it was about 5pm when I got it.’
