Savvy shopper Kerrie took to the fabulous Kmart Mums Australia to reveal snaps from an early 80s ‘Holiday at Kmart’ catalogue - and it’s priceless!
Writes Kerrie: ‘1981 Kmart lovers!! Spend your holidays knitting fashion for your family. 😁😍 My favourite is the men’s fishing cardigan oops I mean jacket!’
It’s our favourite too! Not to mention that fetching beret! The post prompted some Kmart Mums followers to take a trip down memory lane.
Wrote one: ‘I remember knitting from this book! 😲’ Added another: ‘I used that book!’
Said one more: ‘You all laugh but somewhere out there men have this cardigan rolled up in the back of their wardrobes and bring it out when no ones around. 🤣🤣’
Meanwhile others were tickled pink by the catalogue. ‘This just made my day! 😂’ wrote one. Said another: ‘What a treasure!’
We agree! This isn’t the first time that an old Kmart catalogue has resurfaced after many decades. Last year, the Old Shops Australia Facebook group posted this 1987 Father’s Day Kmart catalogue - and we couldn’t love it more!
Featuring Brut 33 gift packs for $8, Playboy bikini briefs for $2 and the most high-waisted shorts we’ve ever seen for $17, the catalogue is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
They also had a range of electricals - including a handheld Casio keyboard and a ‘Telecom authorised’ cordless phone - but at much high price than you’d expect to pay in store in 2019.
For example, while you would’ve expected to pay $59 for a clock radio back in 1987 at Kmart, these days you can pick one up for just $7. Woah.
The post also brought up lots of memories for the Old Shops Australia Facebook followers.
Said one of Kmart’s Old Spice aftershave: 'Remember buying it for $2 one year at school Father's Day stall. Dad said he loved it so I bought it every year. In hindsight though, not sure he ever wore it.’
Said another: 'I had that red Casio keyboard...you buy different cassettes and learn how to play the songs with the lights above the keys...I loved it!!!'
