There are few things better than a vanilla slice with a cup of tea, are we right?
But unfortunately there aren’t always enough hours in the day to whip up a batch from scratch - which is why we love this amazing hack so much.
Posted by Aussie mum Anne Marie to the fabulous Mums Who Cook & Bake Facebook page, she shared how you can produce the cracker slice with just two ingredients and in no time at all.
And the best part? It's as cheap as chips - and tastes super yum.
She wrote: ‘Hey mummas. Want a delicious, easy vanilla slice? I usually don’t do it like this but this is easy ... I used the lattice biscuits instead of pastry which is easier but next time I will try pastry.
‘If you are short of time it’s soooo easy and tasty!’
That it is! So how did Anne Marie do it? Using lattice biscuits and the Cottee’s Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix, it was simply a case of lining a slice tin with one layer of lattice biscuits and topping it with the prepared vanilla mix and then topping it with another layer of bikkies!
Done! Not only did it get the BIG thumbs up from the other Mums Who Cook & Bake members, it also brought back lots of childhood memories.
‘This is how [my] mum’s always made vanilla slice, so yummy but super easy,’ said one. Replied another: ‘My mum used to make it the same way!’ Said one more: ‘Both my nan and my mum made it like this!! So so yummy!’
And with Australia Day just days away, it could be the last-minute dessert you’ve been looking for! For more clever baking tips and tricks, make sure you’re following the Mums Who Cook & Bake page - you’ll love it!
