‘We used four pieces of dowel to support the globe vase,’ Kerri explained on the page. ‘I purchased it for $6 from a variety store and mounted it on a small cake circle on top of the 3 stacked cakes.’
Kerri and her sister used a simple butter cream mixed with two drops of royal blue gel dye for the outside of the cake, before decorating it with $5 snowflakes purchased from a Christmas store.
Inside snow globe, Kerri used a $1 Santa figurine from a local op shop, some more decorations and white cushion wadding to complete the masterpiece. And all we can say is ‘Wow!’
Kerri described the cake as ‘quite a showstopper’ - we’re not surprised! - and it earnt a big round of applause from her Woolies/Coles Mudcake Hacks peers.
‘This is brilliant!’ wrote one, while another said: ‘What a clever idea! This would be perfect for a Christmas party or on chrissie day ! Looks great too!’
One more wrote: ‘I’m totally stealing this idea at Christmas!’
