Meet the woman who finally won her war on acne - by dropping just one thing from her diet. 

UK model Rachel Crawley has suffered from severe acne for as long as she can remember, subjected to cruel taunts and bullying throughout her teenage years as a result. 

This woman stopped eating this ONE thing and it cured her acne for good

Too scared to be seen without make-up, Rachel says she was incredibly insecure and depressed about her acne-ravaged complexion - even refusing requests to model and participate in pageants because of her breakouts. 

In short, Rachel was a prisoner to her complexion woes - until she made one simple change to her diet

She says: ‘I gave up going back for answers and knew deep inside It was my lifestyle that needed to change. I can heal myself!’

Sick of trying every product and treatment on the market, Rachel finally overhauled her diet and experimented by cutting out certain foods until she saw a difference in her skin. The result? Rachel found that sugar was the main culprit behind her acne, and to a lesser extent carbs such as brown rice and oats. 

Since targeting the source of her breakouts, Rachel has followed a strict diet - sharing her journey to clean skin on her Instagram page. 

"Only for about 3 days I have stopped eating these foods and upped my fat intake (healthy fats) and guess what? No new breakouts!"

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨To anybody suffering with acne, no matter who you are or how old you are I hope you know just how strong you are. Whether you still have active spots, scars, marks or you now have clear skin, you should be proud. You are fighting a battle that nobody knows about. Even though acne is something you can visibly see on the outside. Feelings, emotions and mental side effects can easily be hidden. Each day you put on a brave face and power through. When really you are struggling. You don't always have to put on that brave face. It's okay to break down sometimes. It's okay to cry. Just know how to carry on despite the fact that your broken inside. This in itself takes courage and strength. Because you have survived another day. And I pray. That you slowly start to rebuild yourself. See the good in yourself and recognise your worth. Not because I'm telling you this. But because you have decided this. There is only one person that knows how you are feeling. That knows how to turn it around. That can choose to be happy. And that is YOU! Never let someone's opinion become your reality. Never sacrifice who you are because someone else has a problem with it. Love who you are inside and out. No one else has the power to make you feel small unless you give them that power. Her new-found confidence has seen Rachel compete in beauty pageants and use her platform to help other women with skin problems find a way forward. 

She writes: ‘To anybody suffering with acne, no matter who you are or how old you are I hope you know just how strong you are. 

‘Whether you still have active spots, scars, marks or you now have clear skin, you should be proud. You are fighting a battle that nobody knows about.’

Rachel now follows a vegan diet for the sake of her skin, and tells her followers that giving up sugar for the sake of your acne is easier than you think.

🌟HEALING TAKES TIME 🌟 The picture on the left was taken February last year. The picture on the right is my skin currently. Healing the body without medication takes a lot of time and work into figuring out what is best for your body. My body needed a detox. My skin needed a detox. My mind needed a detox. I have struggled with on and off acne since I left school. So for around 6 years. As well as acne I suffered with chronic health problems in my gut and also hormonal imbalances. The doctors told me I had IBS, PCOS although they didn't diagnosis me because it would be going on a waiting list for a specialist. They already sent me for scans and tests. Put me on medication nothing was working. I was stressed / upset I had all these issues but no answers. The worst thing was is because I didn't look ill physically I was never taken serious. I had a feeling it was all connected and something wasn't right. I followed my instinct as crazy as this was to my family and other people and decided to heal myself naturally through plants. What I was eating had massive connection with how I was feeling. I prepare my own food so I know what I'm eating. I don't buy processed food. I eat a range of whole plant based foods. I don't restrict. I eat balanced meals through out the day that keep me satisfied. The struggle lead me to find my passion. Through my own experience I'm certain food is medicine and truly believe we can heal. Every body is different. There are a number of factors to look at that could be causing acne. Diet - beauty products - lifestyle - environment One of the most important steps is building a good relationship with yourself. Getting to know yourself. What your body needs. Taking care of yourself. Taking control of your mind. Doing what is best for you. Doing what makes you happy. Even if it means going alone. Don't give up fighting. You have a life worth living. 💚

The picture on the left was taken February 2017 when I began my journey to clear my skin naturally. Having acne is so much deeper than just a 'skin issue' because it effects your mental health. It effects your whole life. It makes you feel degraded, worthless and ugly. When you have spent such a massive time of your life dealing with acne and trying every treatment possible, you start to feel as though this is how your skin is going to be forever and there is nothing you can do about it. It's tough learning how to accept the way you look because you don't like the reflection staring back at you. Even though I have learnt how to control my acne I still remember the pain everyday and can relate to everyone that is suffering. Please never feel any less beautiful. I ramble so much 😩 It's just loading slowly 😅 I will let you know when it's done! ------------------------------------------------------ So today I have been reflecting back and I'm still in shock myself that I have come this far. The place I was in 6 months ago I would never of thought I would be where I am now. I just want to remind you that when you feel like your at your lowest point you can push through and come out stronger than before. I know how hard it is but trust me you have to start believing in yourself and being kinder to yourself. Being horrible to yourself isn't going to make the acne go away. Locking yourself in a room isn't going to make the acne go away. So you might as well be nice to yourself. So that you feel better on the inside and not caring about what you look like on the outside. Your acne may be apart of you for now but it DOES NOT DEFINE YOU. YOU ARE BETTER THAN YOUR ACNE. 😃 ------------------------------------------------------- I also just want to say thank you for all your support and love.
