With ALDI offering so many cheap wine deals, you hardly need a lot of money to buy yourself a decent bottle of plonk these days.
But that didn’t stop two bungling thieves from trying to make off with a booze stash from ALDI in the Victoria suburb of Sebastopol on Australia Day.
News sources report that the two men were spotted trying to take off with the alcohol on Saturday, January 26 - but it was during their getaway that the wannabe thieves came into a little bit of trouble.
Trying to make their way out ALDI’s tricksy one-way doors at around 2.35pm, eyewitnesses say they got stuck.
As regular shoppers at the supermarket know, their one-way entry system mean you can't leave the store unless you go through the checkouts - a move that these criminals clearly weren't aware of.
The brazen thieves are then said to have run back into the store and tried to escape through another exit before terrifying other shoppers when they smashed their way out of the store.
The criminals are still at large.
The robbers are still at large and police are asking for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
