Update on mysterious death of Australian Instagram model in Greece

Police suspect 'no foul play.'

The superyacht on which Australian Instagram model Sinead McNamara died has reportedly left the Greek port it was stationed.

Fairfax reports the Mayan Queen IV, owned by Mexican mining billionaire Alberto Bailleres, was allowed to leave the island of Kefalonia on Sunday and is now headed for the western Mediterranean.

The yacht was being held while the 20-year-old’s death was investigated.

McNamara, from Port Macquarie, NSW, was found tangled in rope and in critical condition at the rear of vessel in the early hours of Thursday during her last shift on the boat.

She died as she was being airlifted to hospital, reports claim.

Ms McNamara was due to meet her sister the following day.

Fairfax, citing a source, says an autopsy has not been completed but police, who have viewed CCTV from the yacht and questioned all the crew, believe there are no suspicious circumstances.

A local coroner who carried out the autopsy confirmed to Daily Mail the cause of McNamara’s death was ‘hanging’, but claimed results from additional tests could take months to come back.

The coroner also revealed to the publication he had advised Ms McNamara’s mother and sister against visiting her in the morgue, saying they should not go ‘to see her in such bad state’.
