Health experts warn that exposure to Listeria bacteria can cause serious illness and even death - particularly with vulnerable people such as those with weak immunity, pregnant women and their unborn children.
Symptoms include fever, tiredness, aches, pains and headaches - as well as nausea, cramping and diarrhoea. In some severe cases it can cause sepsis and meningitis.
Food Standards Australia says the recalled salads have a use by date of 08/01/2020.
They say: ‘Daly Potato Company is conducting a recall of Bacon and Dijon Gourmet Potato Salad. The product has been available for sale at Woolworths in NSW, ACT, VIC and TAS and Coles in TAS.
‘The recall is due to microbial contamination (Listeria monocytogenes). Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice and return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.’
