Urgent recall: Popular chocolate treat pulled from shelves
New food safety scare: ‘Do not consume this product’
A popular luxury chocolate treat has been pulled from shelves amid a significant food safety scare.
David Jones has issued an urgent recall of its David Jones Belgian Chocolate Brownie due to an undeclared allergen, which could cause significant harm to those with intolerances.
The product has been available for sale in David Jones stores across New South Wales and Victoria, and is of particular concern given that it could’ve been purchased as a gift given the festive time of year.
Says Food Standards Australia: ‘David Jones Pty Ltd is conducting a recall of David Jones Belgian Chocolate Brownie 60g and 270g .... Best Before 15 NOV 19 and 21 NOV 19.
‘The recall is due to the presence of an undeclared allergen (tree nuts [Walnuts]). Any consumers who have a tree nut (Walnut) allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed.
‘Consumers who have a tree nut (Walnut) allergy or intolerance should not consume this product and return the product(s) to the place of purchase for a full refund.’
