URGENT RECALL: Popular toaster recalled amid fears it could ELECTROCUTE people
A big name toaster has been recalled by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission over fears it could electrocute people.
The ACCC today issued a safety warning stating that the Bodum Bistro Stainless Steel 2 Slice Toaster - sold at Spotlight stores in Australia and New Zealand - had been recalled due to a fluctuating voltage issue that can cause electrical shock.
They state that the shock can occur if the user touches the inside heating element of the toaster when it is plugged into the power supply - even when the control lever is not triggered and remains in the upper position.
The ACCC states that the toaster model is 10709-57AUS-4, pictured above, and seems to be the only Bodum toaster that is affected. This model was sold exclusively at Spotlight stores from around August 2018 until early February 2019.
