Fifteen-year-old Nathan Datson’s plunge was captured by a drone after he slipped while climbing a cliff face at Bells Rapids, during an outing with family and his best friend.

Hitting the ground, Nathan was very lucky to just sustain a fractured skull and a broken wrist and elbow, instead of losing his life.

‘I feel pretty surprised that I am still alive,’ he told 7NEWS.

‘I fractured my wrist and my elbow. I think I got a bruise to my lungs and a fractured skull.’

Nathan’s dad Ben Datson knows that it is a ‘miracle’ his son still has his life after the terrifying plunge

And watching this video, it’s easy to see how he came to that conclusion.

It’s believed his life was saved after he became wedged in a gap during his fall, preventing him from plunging any further.

Rescue crews saved the teen after a two-hour extraction process. Nathan was drifting in and out of consciousness during the ordeal.

The moral of the story, unless you’re a goat or a trained climber with safety gear, don’t scale sheer 20ft cliff faces.
