The Amazing Race Australia is back for 2023, with an all-star celebrity cast set to traverse the likes of India, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Borneo in the most action-packed season yet.

Already our racers have been tested in ways audiences have never seen before and have battled through culture shock, meager budgets, the weather, and of course the pressure of a nonstop race!

Whilst it would be wonderful for all our all-star competitors to walk away with the prize money for their chosen charity, only one team will win the $100,000.

Hayley and Emma Watkins + Angie and Allie Simpson
In a heartwarming season finale, race winners Darren McMullen and his nephew Tristan Dougan chose to share their prize money with the final two teams – Hayley and Emma in second place, and Angie and Allie in third place.
“What men you are to share the win so that all of our amazing charities can benefit,” penned Alli and Angie shared to their Instagram accounts after the finale aired.
Emma and Hayley shared a similar sentiment, sharing a message of their own:
“An extremely emotional ending to such an enormous adventure, so grateful to Darren & Tristan for waiting for us all to step on the mat together and share the funds for each of our charities.”
Harry Jowsey and Teddy Briggs
Despite being fan favourites to win, these reality television stars were eliminated with just one leg to go in the race.
In leg eight the team finished in last place but was luckily saved from elimination due to a predetermined non-elimination round.
Sadly, this time around the boys weren’t so lucky.
We are certainly sad to these these boys and their bromance go!
They were racing to raise money for Beyond Blue.
Jana and Cornelis Pittman
This mother and son duo were eliminated in Borneo, with just three legs to go before the final race to the end.
Taking to her Instagram to reflect upon the whirlwind experience, the Olympic athlete and New Idea columnist thanked fans for their support.
“It 100% showed we have to work on communication (me more than him) but gosh I am proud of us! What an adventure, it broke and bonded us!”
“One of the hardest things I have ever done! My boy is a man…and what a man he is 🥰,” she added.
The pair were racing to raise money for the Royal Hospital for Women.
Rebecca Judd and Kate Twigley
When faced with their “worst nightmare” during the seventh leg of the race, sisters Bec and Kate made an ultimately costly decision to take a 60-minute time penalty instead of eating fried tarantula in Cambodia.
Whilst arriving at the checkpoint with host Beau Ryan waiting for them in third place, the delay ultimately saw them ‘check-in’ in last place, eliminating them from the race.
“It was a risk-taking a time penalty but it has been such an incredible adventure, traveling the world and seeing all these amazing places,” Bec shared.
The mother of four then made mention to the charity she and sister Kate were racing for – Impatient Advocacy.
“Racing for our dear friend Nicole. She was a fierce patient advocate. It has been an honour and a privilege to share her story and to share the work that continues after she has gone.”
George and Pamela Mladenov
In devastating news for fans of Survivor’s “King George”, it was the end of the road for him, and his younger sister Pamela in the sixth leg of The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition.
“What an absolute honour to have been able to run the #AmazingRaceAU with my sister @pamelamladenov to raise awareness of the incredible work that women’s health centres on every corner of NSW, particuarly @bankstownwomenshealthcentre,” George shared to his Instagram shortly after his on-screen elimination was aired.
“To fall in Georgetown is poetic and GLORIOUS. We fought to death and glory is ours!” he then added.
Sister Pamela shared an equally sweet statement, writing that her time on the reality show was “real” “raw” and “one of the hardest things” she had ever done.
“Having the opportunity to participate in The Amazing Race with my brother was a dream come true. We were fighting from the bottom from early on and despite the hardships we faced we didn’t give up and give it our all.”
Ben and Jackie Gillies
This husband and wife duo were left feeling rather crabby after a pit stop pitted them against the crustaceans (and each other) in order to receive their next clue.
After a less-than-luxurious trip to the markets to sell their crabs, a night camping on the beach, and time intensive detour, ultimately the couple was unable to make it to the mat before Alli and Angie who bested them in a frenetic foot race to the Pit Stop.
“The @amazingraceau has been EPIC! And I loved sharing the experience with @bengillies888 😍😘,” Jackie shared to her Instagram account shortly after their onscreen elimination aired.
“Thanks for the support during our time on the show. Ben and I had such a great time. We wished we had of stayed longer!!! But that’s the race 😜.”
The lovebirds were racing to raise money for the Moira Kelly Creating Hope Foundation.
Peter and Frankie Rowsthorn
Unfortunately for these racers, their time in the competition came to an end in episode four after a wrong turn wasted precious time, allowing the previous “back of the packers” George and Pam to overtake them.
“This was sooo fun and sooo hard for us 2 dummies, loved every minute and wish we lasted a few more episodes,” Frankie shared to her Instagram account shortly after her elimination with dad Peter was aired, with an accompanying carousel of behind the scenes images from their time on the show.
The father-daughter duo was racing to raise money for All Stars for Autism.
Dane and Bow Simpson
Comedian Dane Simpson raced alongside his dad Bow, previously telling media before the season that Australia would “fall in love” with his dad.
“I think he’s one of the silliest, funniest people…I wanted to show people that he’s real.”
Unfortunately, their appearance on our screens was short and sweet, the father-son duo being eliminated after the first leg of the race.
They were racing to raise money for Dharriwaa Elders Group in Walgett, a charity that helps provide remote First Nations communities with clean drinking water.
