It’s the 99 cent bag that households all over Australia use each and every day.
But did you know that there’s a secret message on the front of the reusable green Woolworths shopping bags that many of us have missed all along?
On the front of the ‘Bag for good’ is a message that states Woolworths’ policy to shoppers on the reusable tote - promising to replace it for FREE if it gets damaged.
It says: 'Use this bag again and again. If it gets damaged we will replace for free.’
That’s right, when Woolies shoppers buy the green bags to pack their own groceries - they only need to buy them once. Any damage you see as the weeks and months go on, just take it to the supermarket and they’ll replace it for free.
On their website, Woolworths writes: ‘We’ve launched a new reusable bag in our stores called the Bag for good™. It’s yours to use again and again, and if it ever gets damaged, we’ll replace it for free no matter when you bought it from us.
‘Simply bring your damaged bag to the Customer Service desk in any of our stores and we’ll swap it for a new one. We’ll even recycle your old one so it can keep doing good.’
The policy has learnt praise from shoppers, who’ve taken to social media to commend Woolworths.
‘I’ve never noticed this! Good on you, Woolies!’ said one. Added another: ‘This makes me feel better about spending a dollar on bags from now on.’
Said a third: ‘Oh ok, I work there and I didn't even know this LOL.’
But in another twist, another user revealed that the policy works on other Woolworths bags also.
‘Works on their freezer bags too, well it has for me,’ said another online user. ‘I have had 2 tear from being overloaded, and they just swapped them straight over :)’
Good to know!
