Aldi’s become a firm favourite for Aussie shoppers when it comes to cut-price groceries.
But it seems the budget supermarket is winning over a whole new legion of fans with its bargain beauty items.
Consumer survey The Product of the Year has voted Aldi’s Lacura Skin Science Renew Expert Wrinkle Smoother and Eye Gel, priced at just $9.99, as their number one face cream - beating scores of expensive, hyped-up beauty products for the gold medal.
More than 14,000 participants took place in the survey, giving the nod to the Aldi formulation claims to reduce the appearance of existing fine lines as well as preventing the formation of new wrinkles - and is dermatologically tested, meaning it’s safe for a wide range of skin types.
Aldi’s Lacura range has long had a cult following, with one fan recently revealing in a review: ‘I am 53 years old with extremely sensitive and a combination skin type with enlarged pores (a nightmare in other words!!!) I have used virtually every face cream in the market from Clinique, Clarins, Estée Lauder through to Boots No7, Olay etc and these [the Lacura range] are without doubt the best products I have come across!
‘I’m currently using the day and night cream, the day and night eye gel and the soy serum and my skin looks radiant. I get so many compliments and most people guess my age at late 30s or early 40s!’
Aldi’s Lacura Beauty 24hr Mascara Volume and Lacura Beauty 24hr Mascara Waterproof, both priced at $6.99, also won best mascara in the awards.
