‘I didn’t expect my skin to respond this quickly. Maybe I’ll get another purge in a month or so, I dunno! But for now, I’m happy. Super chuffed!’ Jess wrote on Instagram.

But over the years Jess has become an expert at concealing her pimples – and for those still searching for a cure she has some top tips.

Avoid products that enhance skin texture

‘Glitters, shimmers, and anything shiny is a no-go,’ Jess tells New Idea.

‘Stick with matte products to avoid highlighting what you’re trying to cover.’

Give yourself plenty of time to get ready

‘Covering acne and redness can be stressful and frustrating,’ Jess reveals.

‘Allow yourself extra time to build up the coverage you want, so you can leave the house feeling confident with your look.’

Try using a green primer

Truth be told, I’m not a primer fan; however, they can be a Godsend to counteract a lot of redness,’ Jess admits.

‘Plus, the thinner texture of a primer will help stop the dreaded ‘cake face’ we could all do without.’

Try to gently remove dry skin before applying make-up

One of the worst things ever is putting on all of your foundation and powder, only to see a flake of skin peeling up underneath,’ Jess explains.

‘If you’re using medication or topical creams to dry out your spots, you’re probably already screaming ‘been there, done that!’ So try removing dry skin flakes before you start beating your mug,’ she advises.

Good make-up starts with good skincare

Keep your skin hydrated, and apply moisturiser at least half an hour before you apply your face.’ Jess suggests.

‘Your makeup will last longer, and look fresher. Keep up with your skincare routine, and your skin will thank you for taking care of it.’

Jess says there’s no ‘one size fits all’ approach to getting rid of acne.

‘What I would suggest is start with the easy stuff first – a simple skincare routine, good diet, exercise and plenty of water each day. How basic!’ she says.
