It’s the bizarre rumour that’s hit social media today - that Woolworths has stopped stores from playing Christmas carols.
The whispers - which have been denied by the supermarket giant - forced some Christmas-loving customers to take to Facebook to voice their concern, with one asking: ‘There are no Christmas Carols in Woolworths this year, why?’
Another said: ‘Has anyone noticed that there are no Christmas carols in Woolies at the moment? Have they been banned?’
Said a third: ‘There is but not very often, if you stay in store for about 45 minutes you should hear at least 1.’
Other shoppers said their local Woolworths were playing lots of carols in store - causing even more confusion.
Woolworths say Christmas is alive and well in stores!
But Woolworths has absolutely denied the rumours that carols aren’t being playing in store this year, telling New Idea Food: ‘The spirit of Christmas is alive and well at Woolworths this year.
'You’ll find us proudly celebrating it throughout our stores, with Christmas carols over our in-store radio along with trees, tinsel, team uniforms and prominent signage.
The supermarket has denied that there are no carols playing
‘And if you're after a bit more Christmas cheer this year, head along or tune in to Woolworths Carols in the Domain on Saturday 21 December to celebrate the spirit of the season with Australia's biggest stars.’
