Exciting! There’s no denying that the promotion has been hugely popular with shoppers - especially after the backlash that the Lion King Ooshies offer attracted from environmentalists.
Says one: ‘I just love Discovery Garden, it’s so good to see Woolworths handing out something that’s good the environment and fun to do for the whole family. And no more plastic toys!’
Some fans on Discovery Garden Facebook groups have even been talking about plants they’d love to see in any future promotions, pointing out that there were many varieties missing from the current offering.
‘Cucumbers, red onion, celery, capsicum just to name a few,’ said one. Added another: ‘Strawberries should of been included and spring onions.’
Said a third: ‘Why aren't they selling raised garden beds, pots etc to go along with it all? Maybe next year it will come back bigger and better?’
Added one more: ‘They could've capitalised on it much better with garden beds, tools, potting mix etc. Hopefully they're just testing the waters this time & will have more to offer next time.’
Great ideas! Speaking to New Idea Food, Woolworths isn't confirming or denying the speculation.
Says a spokesperson: 'While we never say never, this is just speculation.
'Discovery Garden has been really popular and we're pleased to see so many of our customers enjoying the program.
'Our focus remains fairly and squarely on delivering the existing program, so our customers can complete their collections.'
