Woolworths has issued a bushfire update, warning customers that some fresh food items may be missing from stores due to Australia’s devastating bushfire crisis.
Spotted by a shopper this morning in a Sydney store, Woolies has apologised for any inconvenience.
The update reads: ‘We may be experiencing some shortages in our fresh departments due to road and freight closures associated with the bushfires.
‘We are sorry for the inconvenience and are working to get these fresh items available again as quickly as possible. We appreciate your understanding.’
Woolworths have also directed customers to their website for up-to-date information on stores affected by bushfires, which can be found here.
The supermarket giant has so far been praised for its efforts in donating supplies and essentials to firefighters and volunteers battling the bushfires, as well as families and victims who’ve been impacted by the crisis.
Said one local: ‘The highway was opened yesterday to allow for tourists to get out and we had trucks in from Coles and Woolies. Coles in Tura Beach still had stores of food and it was donated to the community of Eden so that they could feed the thousands of people stranded there.’
