The celery shortage comes weeks after it was confirmed that Woolworths, Coles and ALDI had also been affected by a cottage cheese shortage, brought about due to the closure of one of the biggest manufacturers of the popular dairy product.
Woolworths has announced that they’ve been unable to stock a popular variety of vegetable due to a supply shortage.
Supermarkets shoppers would’ve noticed that celery hearts and sticks have been missing from the grocery section for some weeks. And while full bunches of the vegetable - a staple in many homes - have been available in some stores, other varieties have been missing.
Well now a sign at a busy NSW Woolworths store has finally shed light on the issue, revealing that adverse weather conditions have severely limited supply.
The notice reads: ‘Fresh Market Update: Celery sticks and hearts supply has been affected.
‘Due to adverse weather conditions in the celery growing regions, we are experiencing shortages.
‘We are working closely with our suppliers to improve supply as quickly as possible.’
