‘I didn't say it is fair, all I'm saying is you shouldn't be surprised!’ the customer said. ‘I've had one cut in half before and has cost me more. It's a service fee which being holiday time can tend to more expensive yet again. For example go to a resteraunt and order a bottle of wine, they'll charge you a corkage fee on top just for them to open it!’
Others claimed they had had their chickens cut in store during recent times and weren’t charged extra.
Said a shopper: ‘There is no charge. I had 6 chickens cut into 6 pieces for no extra charge.’
Added another: ‘Something very wrong there because there isn’t an extra charge to cut chickens up.’
Another shopper agreed that clarification is needed.
‘I have never been charged for this and I know a lot of elderly people who have never been charged just to get their chicken cut up for them,’ said another shopper. ‘If there is a charge then Woolworth's should be informing their customers.’
New Idea Food has approached Woolworths for comment.
