The rule was revealed on the awesome Markdown Addicts Australia Facebook page, with many shoppers revealing that they’d taken advantage of the little-known policy.
Said one follower: ‘I had $2 taken off mine a while back only because I asked. Added another: ‘I got two BBQ chickens for $1.80 each tonight!’
Revealed a third: ‘I got a roast half price today cause it was cooked at 1.35pm and it was about 5pm when I got it.’
And while many believe that Woolworths remove the BBQ chooks from display before the four hours has lapsed so that they can shred the meat and resell in the deli, others said it paid to keep an eye out.
Said one follower: ‘My local WW told me last week HO [head office] had reduced the time to 4 hrs from 6 hrs that they had to be displayed BEFORE being marked down max 30%.’
Added another: ‘I had no idea about this rule! I didn’t know Woolworths do that!’
