A genius company has pulled off the impossible, creating an Easter wine that combines two of our favourite things!
UK supermarket giant Lidl - a lot like ALDI - has released a Moscato that tastes just like hot cross buns. Yes you read that right!
The hot cross bun-flavoured wine is made with grapes that are dried in the sun for 10-15 days on especially-grown “esparto” dry grass from southern Europe and North Africa, before being matured in oak barrels.
Lidl say the intricate process enhances the wine - which is also vegan - with the aromas of raisins and spices and also creates a sweet, syrupy taste like that found in hot cross buns.
“This rare Spanish wine from the historic Malaga region boasts unique aromas of raisins and sweet spice, very much like that of the cinnamon and nutmeg flavours in hot cross buns,” said Richard Bampfield, Lidl’s master of wine.
The wine sells for around $12 in the UK and isn’t available in Australia - just yet! But it could be just the thing for friends and family in the UK to bring or send home for Easter, are we right?!
