Sometimes taking a bottle of wine to dinner or a picnic is just too much bother. It doesn’t fit in your handbag, is a little heavy to carry - and there’s always the worry that the bottle might bump into something and break.
Well now an Australia company has released a range of WINE IN A CAN, that are perfect for taking with you on-the-go - and conveniently fit in most handbags!
Riot Wine Company now has four 250ml varieties on the market, with each can being the equivalent of 2.5 standard drinks. The range includes the Riot Rouge (a McLaren Vale Grenache), the Riot Blanc (a 2017 Sauvignon Blanc), the Riot Rose (a 2017 Grenache Sangiovese) and the Riot Cuvee (a 2017 Sparkling Chardonnay).
And the best part? They taste ah-amazing. Why? Well Riot Wine Co winemaker Tommy O’Donnell says that by using stainless steel kegs and aluminium cans, the wine is not negatively affected by light or oxygen - which reduces the need for preservatives!
‘The cans are sealed in an anaerobic environment, where no UV sees the wine until it is poured into a glass,’ Tommy explains. ‘This means the wine stays at maximum freshness and only a third of the amount of sulphur dioxide is used, compared to a bottled wine.
‘The added advantage of wine in a can is its portability. It is now even easier to enjoy quality wine in any location whether it’s a festival, picnic or on a boat – without the hassle of lugging glassware.’
